Nexium 24HR is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other types of reflux problems caused by acid reflux symptoms (gastrointestinal symptoms). It is also used to treat pain and relieving symptoms of peptic ulcers (also called heartburn or stomach pain).
Nexium 24HR Tablets 7 is ideal for treating frequent heartburn and acid reflux problems.
Take one Nexium 24HR tablet 7 times daily with each main meal of your day (days 5 to 12).

If you have heartburn for more than 4 days (such as 14 days of peeling, 14 days of new symptoms of heartburn or 14 days of abdominal pain, new or worsening nausea, heartburn lasting more than 4 days with a painful burning sensation, heartburn that does not stop after 3 days) take special care not to consume alcohol as it can increase the risk of side effects.

AstraZeneca has been fined $3.1 million for illegally marketing and selling a drug called Nexium 20mg.
In an interview with The Sun, the company said Nexium 20mg was the best-selling drug in the world and it was used to treat heartburn and acid reflux.
Thefineline was based on information given by AstraZeneca and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in April.
“It was a very innovative drug and we had a good indication,” said Dr. Albert Bourla, director of the AstraZeneca Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.
Nexium, a drug used to treat heartburn, is known by its brand name esomeprazole.
It is a member of the class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors. Esomeprazole is used to treat stomach ulcers and reflux disease. It can also be used to treat acid reflux disease in people with GERD and acid reflux disease in people without GERD.

Directions for Use
Take 1 capsule of Nexium Control® by mouth with or without food. For the full course of treatment, continue taking 1 capsule for at least 1 week after last treatment. If symptoms persist for more than 4 days, consult your doctor.
Warnings
Avoid eating food after taking Nexium Control®. Complete the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Do not take the first dose without consulting your doctor.
Avoid taking the capsule within 4 hours before or 2 hours after taking the dose. This may help reduce the chances of getting an infection.
Tell your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or get worse.
Nexium Control® may cause you to feel lightheaded, scared, or restless. Get medical help right away if you experience any of these or any of the following: increased headache, dizziness, or fainting; dark urine, stomach pain, indigestion, or peptic symptoms; or pain in one or both stomach or back. Get medical help right away if you experience any of these rare but serious side effects. Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant unless your doctor has told you to.
Avoid eating food after taking Nexium Control
Nexium Control® can also cause diarrhea or constipation, especially after 1 or 2 hours.
Stop taking Nexium Control® and contact your doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms: chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing up blood, weakness, unusual bruising, burning or itching of the skin, or any other changes in feeling.
